You would have to do a very, very (extremely) large amount of herb runs/birdhouse runs for the portals/mounted amulets to be better than using the items themselves. Sure it makes teleporting convenient, but consider the fact that Xeric's Talisman can stack up to around 2k charges (I think?), whereas other teleporting jewellery only can hold 6 charges. Therefore I think that it's probably best for it to not be in the POH to be honest. Can hold up to 1k charges ...It's funny, the first one or 2 are invaluable. It took me like 600 kills for first one. Then the other 50-100 from trying to get a dwh are just insulting. Not sure why we don't have any other uses for them than just breaking them. Pay 100 talismans to upgrade a talisman to hold extra charges or something. 2..
